| DENSO EcoVision 2005 is a comprehensive environmental
program that minimizes the impact of the company's product and operations
in the commercialization of environmental technologies of new products
and services. Created in June 2000, it is the third in a series of
long-term environmental programs |
| |
| DENSO EcoVision 2005 makes clear our commitment to
accomplishing a recycling society, R&D aiming for harmony within
in the environment and sustained environmental protections. |
| |
| EcoVision emphasizes: |
| |
| 1. |
|
Tackling environmental issues through a coordinated
effort that involves active participation by all DENSO operations
around the world. |
| 2. |
|
Making the environment an overriding consideration
in the ways that DENSO develops and designs products. |
| 3. |
|
Working systematically at all DENSO locations
to minimize output of substances that adversely affect the environment. |
| 4. |
|
Working actively with third parties in identifying
ways to better safeguard the environment and disclosing information
about DENSO products and operations effects on the environment. |
|
| |
| DENSO's work in addressing environmental concerns
in product development and design furnishes an especially clear snapshot
of its commitment to the spirit of EcoVision. The work encompasses
seven themes: |
| |
| 1. |
|
Thoroughly evaluating potential environmental
impact in the earliest of stages of product development and
design. The effort focuses on five criteria including: fuel
economy, exhaust emissions, materials, recyclables and air conditioning
refrigerant. |
| 2. |
|
Working closely with suppliers in evaluating
and reducing the environmental impact of products. DENSO has
called on all its suppliers to put in place environmental management
frameworks by 2003. |
| 3. |
|
Improving fuel economy by reducing size and
weight in all DENSO automotive products and by developing technologies
for intelligent transport systems (ITS) that will route traffic
smoothly. |
| 4. |
|
Developing engine management technologies to
help attain the emission levels specified by regulation in each
market, which are more ambitious targets established by individual
automakers. |
| 5. |
|
Participating actively in Japan's industry
efforts to raise the recycling rate of end-of-life vehicles
to 95 percent by 2025. As part this effort, the company is working
to raise its recyclable percentage of automotive components
to 95 percent by 2005. This includes designing products to be
easier to disassemble and recycle by adopting recyclable materials.
It also includes developing commercially viable technologies
for recycling products. |
| 6. |
|
Monitoring and reducing the amount of materials
contained in DENSO products that adversely effect the environment
in any way. |
| 7. |
|
Adopting refrigerants in car air conditioners
that do not contribute to global warming. DENSO already has
switched to refrigerant that is harmless to the ozone layer.
Now it is developed air conditioners that will work efficiently
with refrigerant such as carbon dioxide that does not aggravate
the problem of global warming. |
