Just as it does every year, DSIN organized a community service activity, under the program name Education for All -HITOZUKURI- for 2008.
On the evening of 24 November, DSIN Bangalore employees visited the Geetha Ashram, an orphanage in Bangalore, to donate Rs.250,000.
The orphanage is over 20 years old but did not have a proper roof until just 3 years ago. Basic facilities like waterworks and a kitchen, etc. were made available only very recently. More than 100 children are looked after and most of them are very young, up to 10 to 12 years of age, at this place. The children study in the Government schools nearby and are provided with books, uniforms, school fees, stationery etc., apart from food. The orphanage runs on the donations received from various organizations/individuals.
On the day, the children were assembled in the hall and a small function was held. The orphanage plans to utilize the money given by DENSO to build a fence around itself for security. It also plans to enhance its kitchen facilities and lighting. |
