Five years ago, we launched the DENSO Community Service Day campaign, an annual event in which DENSO Group companies throughout the world participate in community contribution activities.

Last year, 30,000 associates from 90 companies in 22 countries and regions took part by setting up each company’s “Community Service Day” under the slogan, “Turn Compassion into Action.”

This year, I hope more of you will join this campaign. If you have not yet participated, please look around your community for opportunities to help. Then, try to start doing what you can do, step by step. 

For example, since we launched Community Service Day in commemoration of DENSO’s 55th anniversary, associates have held activities related to the environment, welfare and education, including community clean-ups, forestation and a wheelchair basketball tournament as well as donations of food, clothing and toys during the year-end holiday season. I would like to express my appreciation to all these DENSO associates and their companies.

The DENSO Group is a global organization that runs businesses of production and sales around the world with approximately 120,000 associates. It is important for our companies to be in harmony with, as well as to be trusted and admired by our communities. To achieve this respect, we must be involved in activities, which contribute to our communities, working alongside local community people. In doing so, we can contribute to building a better world, not only through ethical business activities, but also as good corporate citizens.

This is the year to step up – associate by associate.

Let me ask you to help expand our Community Service Day by participating continuously in connecting your “compassion” to your local community’s wellness. The more of you who join this campaign, the more global an activity it will become, strengthening and impacting the world on a larger scale than one person working alone can do. At the same time, it’s also a good opportunity to discover and develop　yourself.
