The Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) is a product which combines the starter motor and the alternator. The ISG starter contributes greatly to our environmental efforts.
The ‘Idle-Stop System’ equipped on hybrid vehicles shuts off the engine when a vehicle stops at a traffic signal. That’s why the system is effective in reducing emissions. Although normally you might only start and stop your automobile’s engine two or three times a day, the Idle-Stop System causes this dozens of times and would place extreme strain on an ordinary starter motor that starts the engine.
DENSO increased the life of the starter by tenfold, enabling it to start an engine more than 200,000 to 300,000 times during its useful life in order to bear such stress. As a result, people can shut off their engine without any worries while temporarily stopped, instead of idling while stuck in traffic or waiting at a red light. |
