Battery ECU (engine control unit)

Toyota's Prius hybrid vehicle uses energy efficiently by combining a combustion engine with an electric motor. This system doubles the vehicle's mileage (the distance that a vehicle can travel with a specific amount of fuel) compared to other same-class, gasoline-only vehicles, and cuts in half the amount of CO2 emissions. This efficient operation is supported by technologies that successfully use electricity.
DENSO's Battery ECU (a small computer) minutely controls the remaining amount of electricity in the battery, including voltage and current. When the battery experiences some type of abnormality, data are transmitted to this computer and the entire system is controlled to protect the battery. The Battery ECU plays the role of a brain to always keep the eco-friendly hybrid system in good condition.

The Battery ECU uses the battery to its full capabilities and operates the power sources of vehicles in order to reduce CO2 emissions.
