The greatest invention since the inverter.Practical applications of the ejector cycle!!
The news that surprised the world!
A news release by DENSO on June 5, 2003 surprised electronic manufacturers, the academic community, and most especially people involved with air conditioners and refrigerators, eliciting the following reactions.
"DENSO put 'ejector cycle' to practical use for the first time in the world. Compared to previous systems, a refrigerator equipped with the ejector cycle has improvements in both refrigerating capacity of 25% and energy efficiency of 50%, while the power consumed is reduced by 33% and annual power consumption by 60%."
"If it is really true, this must be the most revolutionary breakthrough since the inverter that precisely controls the flow of electric current.
Key terms
- Inverter
a power supply circuit that converts between direct current and alternating current. Since an inverter is more energy efficient and easier to maintain than other equipment, it is used as the technology to operate machines and facilities, and maintains them in a condition of near-perfect electrical current flow. The inverter expedited energy savings for products in every field from home electrical appliances such as air conditioners and refrigerators, to computers, trains, and industrial machinery.

“The world’s first ejector cycle” which was completed by overcoming the barriers of manufacturing technology

It was possible to simulate the control of refrigerant flow with computer models, but it was not an easy matter to put the idea into practical form. One of the reasons that other researchers gave up on this development was the barrier of actual manufacturing technology.
The skills of DENSO’s engineers enabled us to overcome that barrier. Sophisticated technology, which was cultivated in our development and manufacturing of automobile components, created the world’s first ejector cycle that now greatly contributes to preservation of the environment and cost control.

The ejector cycle was highly appreciated for its spirit of innovation and superiority, and received various awards including the 2003 Ten Major New Products Award by Nikkan Kogyo Shinbun, and the Chunichi Industrial Technology Award: Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Prize.
