A society in which drivers, passengers and pedestrians are safe from traffic accidents

To prevent accidents, reduce accident damages, and assist driving, DENSO is developing safety systems that integrate high precision sensors and control technology, and products that support driving.

Image recognition

Improved safety through enhanced driver visibility

Safety technologies such as installing sensors on vehicles to detect and avoid danger and minimize damage have entered practical use. In addition, if drivers can fully grasp the surrounding conditions and drive more safely, they can avoid dangerous situations.

It is easy to miss road signs that are actually in the driver's field of view. If a vehicle technology could read and inform such signs to the driver, traffic accidents would decrease. DENSO believes that such technologies to enhance the driver's vision will help create a safer automotive society.
One such technology is image recognition, which extracts necessary information from images taken by a camera installed on the vehicle and identifies objects. This technology could be used to read traffic signals.

DENSO is developing a variety of technologies to help create safer vehicles.

Physical condition monitoring

Check your vital body functions every time you sit in the drivers seat with driver monitoring technology

The physical conditions of the driver can be monitored during driving; future vehicles could have such a function for staying healthy and for safer driving.

For this purpose DENSO has been developing an electrocardiographic monitoring system. While the driver is gripping the steering wheel, the system measures the electrical activity of the person's heart in real time with sensing electrodes on the surface of the wheel.

Sensors are critical components for vehicle systems. As an automotive system supplier, DENSO has expertise in the development of sensors and their signal processing technologies, and uses this expertise to create new features for future vehicles.

Sensing system

Improved protection for you and your vehicle with surrounding conditions detection sensors

Safety systems, such as the pre-crash safety system and lane keeping assist system, keep the vehicle safe upon detecting the risk of an accident and minimize damage in the case of a collision. The key features of these systems are the geyesh of the vehicle?sensors which monitor the surroundings and their signal processing systems.

For instance, millimeter-wave radar sensors continuously measure the distance and relative speed to the vehicle ahead to avoid the risk of a collision. Vision sensors monitor the white lane markings to detect when the vehicle is about to cross either of the lane boundaries perhaps because the driver has taken his/her eyes off the road or is driving carelessly.

In addition to developing millimeter-wave, vision, and other types of sensors, DENSO flexibly combines the advantages of each sensor and commercializes sophisticated sensing systems for more reliable measurement results and improved vehicle safety.
