Member, Board of Directors,
DENSO CORPORATION

Shinro Iwatsuki is senior managing director in charge of the Production Promotion center at DENSO Corporation’s global headquarters in Kariya, Aichi, Japan. As such, his responsibilities include strategic planning and implementation of production technologies and mono-zukuri, the art of making (zukuri) things (mono), to achieve high quality in technology, product development and production.

After graduating from the College of Economics at Keio University in Tokyo, Iwatsuki joined Toyota Motor Corporation (formerly Toyota Motor Co., Ltd.) in 1969. While there, he studied the Toyota Production System (TPS) with Taiichi Ohno, former vice president of Toyota Motor Corporation, giving him extensive experience and knowledge in production and physical distribution.

Iwatsuki joined DENSO Corporation in 2001, as managing director of the Production Promotion center. In June 2003, he was named senior managing director.

Although he has been in charge of the Production Promotion center for only a short time, Iwatsuki has visited nearly every DENSO manufacturing facility in Japan and around the world, looking over the production operations and teaching TPS to DENSO associates. And, he is a leader to put in place a global supply network that will allow DENSO to deliver competitively priced, high-quality systems and components anywhere in the world.

Iwatsuki was named director at Toyota Motor Corporation in 1999, before joining DENSO.
