Aiming to win the Manufacturers Title and the Drivers Title at the 2004 FIA World Rally Championship, Fuji Heavy Industries organized the Subaru World Rally Team. In 2003, they missed a wonderful chance to win the team title. However, Petter Solberg, the ace driver of the team, was awarded the Drivers Title. In 2004, Mikko Hirnonen, a new and powerful driver from the youth fostering program will drive the second machine, hoping to win double titles and the championship for two consecutive seasons.
