Profile: In 1989, the Toyota Team SARD secured a position in the Toyota Works Team. Using a Toyota 89C-V, the team won the Sports Prototype Car Championship twice. In 1994, the team came in second in the Le Mans 24 Hours Race, with the top record as a private team.
Since 1995, Kato has led his team to the Championship Cup three times in the All Japan GT Championship (the 2nd and 4th round at Fuji Speedway in 1997, and the 7th round at Autopolis in 2003)
