Casey Stoner Clinches Third Place in British GP.
BRITISH GRAND PRIX DONINGTON, 24 JULY 2005 250 CC RACE
The very bad weather conditions of last two days of practices became worse today for the eighth race of the
season. The warm up session and the 250 race were completely wet and the track was very slippery. Although
those difficult conditions Casey Stoner had a very exciting challenge with De Puniet and Anthony West till the last
lap. The Australian rider no. 27 tried to get the victory till the last corner when he unfortunately suffered a very
dangerous sliding going out in the gravel. Anyway Casey immediately rejoined the race pushing hard to maintain
his third position. It's a good result for the CARRERA SUNGLASSES . LCR Team young rider who is stills second in
the world standing with 122 points (34 less than Pedorsa). Twelfth position for Roberto Locatelli who is now 14th in
the world standing with 24 points.
"It was a difficult race. I lost the front two or three times also in the straight because the track was very slippery. I am a
bit disappointed because I also had some visibility problems and maybe I could pass De Puniet to get into the front. We
had a pretty good setting but the track were quite dangerous that's why I went out into the gravel at two laps to go.
Anyway this third place is very important for the standing and I am happy because Pedrosa and Dovizioso finished the
race behind me".
"Considering these very bad conditions I feel quite satisfied about this result. I got to much gap because I did not
have the right feeling with the rear... I do not why.. it could be the tyre or the rear suspension regulations".
