It is impressive. I'm sure that you must be really eligible to WGP races. By the way, people say that the popularity of racing is very high incomparably with that in Japan. After starting to participate in the WGPs from this year, have you had any occasion when you knew the extent of frenzy almost physically?
- Koyama:

You know, the popularity of racing is incredibly high in Europe regardless of classes. At the races of European round, the stand is so closely filled up with spectators as you cannot find any vacant seat. I have had no memory of seeing an empty seat.
This is an episode that made me realize how high the popularity of motor sports. I have been used to carry some cowling for my machine as a hand baggage on the flight from Japan. I put once a pair of complete sets of cowling and a pair of leather suits in a cardboard box. I was caught up naturally at the customs and demanded to show the contents. I explained that I am a rider of WGP and the contents are parts necessary for the motorcycle. The customs officer was a little surprised and said, "Are you a WGP rider?" I showed the rider pass for WGP to him. Then he said, "Oh, it's smart. Will you mind to give me your autograph?" I signed on the white shirt of the guard as requested by him. He said, "You are ready to go. I pray a good race for you. I'll be watching the TV." I am sure there will be more fantastic encounters if I could appeal myself standing on the honor platform.

Denso is scheduled in future to expand sales of its spark plugs in European markets. They are earnestly expecting you will be cutting a brilliant figure as an advertising pillar at the WGPs, which are admitted as the pinnacle of motorcycle racing. We are also dying to see you on the podium.

Not only Honda but also Aprilia, Derbi and Gilera now employ the Iridium Racing Plugs. Denso's plugs have large shares both in the WGP125 and WGP250. We know troubles of broken insulator occur time and again at severe racing. The Iridium Racing Plugs are completely free from this kind of trouble. They have been employed popularly because of their reliability.
I have once visited Valencia GP as race service personnel and witnessed that a big hill was packed closely with spectators, which mean customers of our products. It was also amazing to me that many famous European companies were holding their events in dead earnest at intermissions between races. I felt strongly a need for us to imitate their earnestness in our efforts as a corporation. This is the reason why we have been asking Mr. Koyama to be present at the events of Denso Iridium at the occasions of GP in Japan, Malaysia and Australia.

Now, will you let us know your ambitions for Czechoslovakia GP on August 28 and Japan GP on September 18 in the second half of season?
- Koyama:

Well, I would like to win these races in front of European and Japanese fans. You know, when I return to the pit after a race, a scene of ceremony of awarding an honor is broadcast on a monitor. In such occasion, I have been used to think, "How smart it will be if I could be there and hear the national anthem". It will be wonderful if I could hear the playing of national anthem of Japan at the Czech circuit and Motegi circuit.
I know a little about the circuit of Czechoslovakia GP because I participated last year on the spot basis. I feel I have a good chance to achieve a favorable result over there. It will be great if I could stand on the circuit of Japan GP with some medal on my breast.

Finally, would you mind to tell us your objectives in future as a WGP rider?
- Koyama:

I wish to achieve better results in the races in the second half of this season. I have to record respectable performances in the GP125cc class in the next year in order to step up myself to the GP250cc class in the year after next. Ultimate challenge for me is to step up my skills to a level eligible to the MotoGP class and, of course, to win the championship of MotoGP.
