- Racing Right to the Goal.
That is the most important requirement for victory.-

The rally ends the moment the machine breaks down.

The WRC (World Rally Championship) is very rough compared with other motor sports. You're darting and jumping. You're in fierce heat and snowstorms. You're racing for hundreds of kilometers while controlling a machine under these kinds of severe conditions. You are constantly pushing yourself and the machine almost to the limit. Therefore the burden on the machine is not an ordinary one.

What does it take to become a champion at the WRC? It takes different skills. It takes the driver's technique, force of will and ability to concentrate. It also takes a fast and well-balanced machine. And team effort. When all three of these come together, then you can win for the first time.

However you can't win with a fast machine only. The most important thing for winning is the absolute confidence that you can race right to the goal. You really don't know what might happen when racing under severe conditions. And, the rally ends the moment your machine breaks down. Your efforts up to that moment all coming to nothing. Therefore high reliability is demanded from each and every part that makes up the machine. In particular, plugs are said to be the heart of an engine and are very important parts of the machine. DENSO iridium plugs are excellent parts that fully meet these demands.

The Subaru World Rally Team (SWRT) has achieved great results more than a few times in the past and it is the machine's excellent reliability that has supported this. I can definitely say that these great results would have been impossible without this reliability. Also, feedback is provided for production vehicles with the top level know-how that is cultivated. The WRC is, so to speak, like a laboratory for the latest technology.

If you have good accelerator response, controlling the machine's behavior and traction becomes a lot easier.

So what does it take to win the WRC? First, you must build an ideal machine. For this reason, we, as a team, repeat countless tests day and night to make a superior machine. Being a good rally driver doesn't simply mean being fast. It also demands the ability to develop a car.

The deciding factor is the machine's movement. However movement and accelerator response are closely connected. For example, controlling a machine exactly as you imagined while running in an extreme situation takes superb accelerator work rather than steering. You want an engine that goes from partial throttle with dramatic acceleration. In other words, if accelerator response is good then you can not only go fast but also control the machine's complicated movements more easily. A machine that does not have constant accelerator response is like a restive horse. It's dangerous and not for riding.

The SWRT is a prestigious team that has been making excellent efforts in the WRC for the last dozen years. Their machines have been improving, and so the potential of the machines has also been increasing. In particular, the standard of accelerator response that I wanted has been fully achieved. In this, the success of the machine's overall rotation has been in no small part due to the DENSO iridium plugs that reliably ignite over and over again. From now on, I will devote all my energy to becoming the drivers' champion along with my trusted and excellent staff, machine and supplier.

Solberg has proven the outstanding performance and trust of the Iridium Power plug in the WRCs.
