DENSO (Australia) promoted DENSO spark plugs through our own efforts at the Australian Moto GP at Phillip Island over the 3 days from Friday October 3rd to Sunday 5th.
Over the 3 days more than 100,000 people attended the event which could have been higher if it didn't rain on the Friday.
DENSO (Australia)'s involvement varied, ranging from naming rights sponsor for the Supersports race category, to displaying our products in our stand alone display booth and VIP guest entertainment in the corporate hospitality area.
SPONSORSHIP ENTITLEMENTS - DENSO SUPERSPORTS CATEGORY
DENSO sponsored the Supersports category which consisted of 4 races spread over the 3 days with the final race being held on Sunday in front of the 50,000+ people.
Every bike competing in the races were required to apply DENSO Iridium Power stickers on the windscreen and faring.
The winner and place getters were those who had accumulated the most points throughout the 3 races.
A television interview was conducted by local television station with both Ross Webster and Lucio Cecchinello in the Team LCR pit (suitably decorated with DENSO Iridium Power stickers on the walls).
This interview was replayed 6 times during Saturday and Sunday on the large screens around the track.
DENSO were allowed 10 x 45 second TV advertisements which were shown on the large screens during the 3 days of the event.
DENSO's Ross Webster and our grid girl in DENSO uniform presented the trophies to the winner and place getters of the DENSO Super sports event on the podium in pit straight with live coverage to the large screens around the course. This took place on Sunday and before the presentation, the interview was replayed and after the presentation, the TV advertisement was shown.
SIGNAGE AT ENTRANCES TO THE MAIN GATES
DENSO were permitted 6 x 3 metre signs at the main entrances. (No other spark plug manufacturer is allowed to advertise their product at the course as DENSO is the offi cial spark plug sponsor)
On tickets, website, programs and running sheets, DENSO spark plugs sign was printed. Also all media releases by the Australian Grand Prix Corporation had our logo on the release.
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES DENSO STAND ALONE BOOTH
DENSO set up their display booth to show case our sparkplugs and our involvement with team LCR.
The booth attracted many thousands of people over the 3 days with DENSO (Australia) staff and our promotional girls handling enquiries on application, pricing and availability and distributing catalogues and stickers.
In addition we had an autograph signing session with TEAM LCR and both Randy De Puniet and Lucio Cecchinello attended and fi lled the surrounding area very quickly.
FUND RAISING FOR THE OFFICIAL CHARITY
As we were in a syndicated corporate hospitality area, DENSO (Australia) were responsible for raising over $2,000 by conducting an auction for a signed Team LCR T shirt and cap . kindly donated by Team LCR and a photo opportunity with the team.
Also, we sold promotional spark plug key ring lights in our display booth and we donated 50% of what we received from revenue from these sales to the charity.
On Friday, as part of our sponsorship package, we were allowed a 3 minute television interview and we did this in the Team LCR pit with Ross Webster and Lucio Cecchinello. This interview gives more credibility to our product when it is promoted by the actual owner of the team.
We were permitted to have 2 grid girls standing in the pit during practise, qualifying and before the race. These girls were wearing the DENSO uniform and we were fortunate to get some glimpses of them on national television.
Also, they strategically placed a DENSO Iridium Power sticker just above the head of the rider so that when he came to discuss issues with the chief mechanic, the DENSO sticker was on show when the TV crew panned into the pit.
During the pit walks on Saturday and Sunday, the 2 grid girls were strategically placed out the front of the pit handing out DENSO stickers and having many photos taken of them.
On Sunday prior to the race, again the 2 girls were in the pit and then one of the girls was used as the grid girl holding the DENSO spark plug umbrella while waiting for the race to start.
As mentioned earlier in this report, Team LCR donated team apparel for the charity auction and also for my staff and this was very well received.
They made themselves available for the autograph signing session, photo opportunities and 'meet and greet' sessions with our guests.
After the race, both Lucio Cecchinello and Randy De Puniet attended the corporate hospitality area to mingle with our guests and other people in our syndicated area.
This included autograph signing and photograph opportunities.
Our display booth featured photos of the team rider and the images were supplied by the Team.
