The ultimate event in the IRL (Indy Racing League)
is the Indianapolis 500, the wonderful American classic race
that was first held in 1911 and is being held this year for
the 88th time. TOYOTA is competing in the IRL for the first
time in 2003. The newly developed 3.5 liter, non-turbo normal
aspiration TOYOTA Indy RV8I engine generates 700 HP with a 10,300
rev limit, reaching top speeds of over 400 km/h. Such speeds
can be reached on the oval circuits characteristic of the USA.
The ultra fast battles are a thrilling, lightning quick display
from start to finish, which is what makes them so American.
TOYOTA dominated 2002 year's American CART series to take the
cherished champion's title, and after shifting its target 2003
season to the IRL it has a burning desire to win the series
at the first attempt. |
